Tuning us into our humpday feels, Fat Trout Trailer Park introduces us to the nostalgic visual behind their EP titular track, “Florida”. Coming just a week after the drop of their four-track effort, “Florida” poses as a single that embodies the very essence of the band — who offer an analysis of the toxic sociopolitical climate, assembling lyrical masterpieces that hit far “too close for comfort”.

Speaking of Florida as though it were a woman, Fat Trout Trailer Park grimly describes the ways in which the once beautiful state is now in a state of decomposition — worn away by the everyday hardships placed upon it by humankind. A spellbinding satire of humanity’s habit to neglect nature, “Florida” is juxtaposed with a seaside-appropriate melody, complete with vintage reverbs and ear-worming beats. Similarly as distracting, the track’s music video shows each band member running riot across their respective towns, gladly having fun and attempting to ignore the outside noise. A clever-yet-heartbreaking mourning song for the loss of what “Florida” once was, the track leaves us in a state of conscious contemplation — with its captivating melody almost impossible to shake.

Having just announced they will be supporting FUR in the US for three shows, you can catch Fat Trout Trailer Park throughout October in Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York. To watch the music video for “Florida” and to listen to the full EP now, head below…
