Offering her own take on the single, Tiggi Hawke explains, “‘Pity Party’ is mean. It’s so brutally honest, with just a touch of cynicism, but I love it, it’s definitely one of my favourite songs I’ve co-written. It’s had enough of social media-ness and the idea that you have to suck it up and be happy all the time when the reality is so far removed from that. It has a bit of an origin story as well – the idea for Pity Party actually came out of a wine-fuelled rant about how everyone brushes past their pain and sadness when actually sometimes, you just want to have a cry and wallow for a while, which is absolutely fine and I personally do believe that burying those intense emotions really drag me down. I’m a huge advocate for a pity party, feel your feelings and let them out for a while – have an awesome ‘Pity Party’ and feel amazing for it!”
