The jewellery brand pays homage to the iconic American artist with its new collection and campaign.
“Art should be something that liberates your soul, provokes your imagination and encourages people to go further,” the legendary American artist Keith Haring once said. A pioneer of the intrinsic link between love and art, Haring blossomed from the 80s New York graffiti subculture and created animated imagery that would soon be considered a language form of its own, instead of just a drawing or a painting.
Given that this universal language translates in ways that words cannot, Pandora turned to Haring’s animated imagery to evoke notes of love, freedom and creativity in their brand new campaign. Showcasing a brand new collection out September 29th, Pandora introduces 14 eye-catching pieces that marry the elegance and style of the jewellery brand’s DNA while simultaneously popping with the bold charisma felt throughout Keith Haring’s work.
With eight charms, a charm bracelet, two twice, a necklace and earrings all boasting the reimagined design, the visionary’s symbolic work is detected in the form of the classic barking dog, angel baby, and unmistakable bold linear lines. Capitalising the word LOVE into the pieces, Pandora ensures that its mission statement is delivered to every wearer — keeping them loved, inspired and accessorised.
Speaking on the campaign, the Creative Directors of Pandora – Filippo Ficarelli and Francesco Terzo – comment, “When creating the collection, we did a sort of time travel, connecting directly with the philosophy of an artist that uses his art and vision for inclusion, building a culturally relevant, visual language that is so timeless that it arrives to us as a powerful voice. We imagine a dialogue with Keith Haring, together using jewellery as a canvas or ‘a wall’ for sharing a language that we can all speak.”
To achieve this, the campaign catapults us back to the buzz of the 80s scene where Haring’s work began to make its stratospheric rise. Capturing burgeoning rappers, breakdancers and skateboarders alike, the campaign seamlessly demonstrates Pandora’s mission to unite all corners of the zeitgeist with its jewellery — allowing for the expression of individuality while celebrating a sense of community.
