“Our original plan for the ‘Icing’ music video was to buy as much icing as humanly possible and go crazy with it,” says Marcaux of the visuals for his new track, which shares its name with the staple cake and biscuit coater. However, they changed direction slightly. “We ended up instead spending the entire video budget on children’s party supplies instead. This ended up being the most fun I’ve ever had shooting a music video, which totally fits the vibe of the song.”

A similar exuberance Marcaux applies to his sound, blending hip-hop, alternative, rock and pop, which has been described as an R-Rated version of Jon Bellion or Twenty-One Pilots in the past. “Icing” is the artist’s first release under Repost/Soundcloud, whom he recently signed with. He opted to drop it, rather than other tracks on his upcoming EP “Mom, Pick Me Up” due in the new year, “because it’s a banger” and he wanted to start off on a high. It’s also full of real-life tea, “A dope producer stole my beat to make a bogus hit,” he raps on the track, which he says is a true story and said song actually became a moderate hit. He follows up the line with “I said eye for an eye and I stole his bitch” – however, this, in contrast, was not quite true to reality, according to Marcaux.
