If you’re in need of a nugget of positivity from a pal, a reminder that ‘you’ve got this’, and given the seemingly constant stream of unprecedented events the world’s experienced in recent times, many of us do, then Ava Della Pietra is your new best friend. New single “depend on me”, taken from her EP “truth or truth” sees the former School of Rock broadway star celebrate self-confidence and the idea that regardless of the trials and tribulations life presents us with, we’ve got the fortitude required to get us through.

The singer-songwriter’s euphonious tones are centre stage on top of a mere acoustic guitar in the endearing cut, as she affirms “I can depend on me, to make things clear.” As Pietra explains regarding the track: “I think it’s important to be self-reliant so I can learn and be confident in my own decisions.”

However, confidence in the artist far transcends her own, with industry commentators and institutions flocking to highlight her vocal and songcraft prowess. She recently took first prize in the New York State School Music Association Calls for Creators Competition ‘Songwriters Showcase’ for her songs “Optimist” and “Moon,” while the New York Young Performer’s Prize competition awarded her 2nd prize for her performance of the song “Popular” from the iconic musical Wicked. Her album has seen the all-rounder collaborate with producer Will Hicks (Ed Sheeran, Jamie Lawson, Beyoncé), so the ascent looks unlikely to slow down anytime soon.
