How to have your egg cooked each morning is a topic that could cause disharmony in the tightest of groups. Thankfully, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and composer Zach Tabori would appear to be catering for all tastes in his egg-inspired album trilogy, which he continues with Hard Boiled.

January’s Soft Boiled, whilst by no means a meditative listen, saw the Turkish, LA-based artist venture on a more jaunty exploration of his diverse musical influences, including non-conformist Zappa and instrumental music, however, Hard Boiled, as you might expect, takes a sharper stab at his love of rock and roll, with harder, anthemic style rock songs.

Track “Alligator”, a case in point, is a “song about the reciprocation of exploitative behavior by girls with bangs and boys with polyester shirts,” Tabori explains. “Musically, I wanted to write a riff that combined hard rock with the double-time funk of James Brown or Otis Redding.” The single’s video was filmed by acclaimed National Geographic Magazine photographer Michael Christopher Brown, and depicts the somewhat surreal situation of an alligator, dressed in a green suit, causing carnage in LA.
