Spectrum, Nyota Parker’s November 2021 album was a statement on self-awareness, confounding societal boundaries, and manifesting your dreams. “Spectrum reflects a journey of a struggling artist and this deluxe album shows that although I have a distinct sound, I was still experimenting,” the Cape-Town hailing artist says. “I will always continue to experiment too”.

Marrying her poignant lyrical acuity with zesty 808s, irresistible neo-soul baselines and boombap snares, Parker truly proves experimentation’s position at the heart of her artistry on this deluxe version. The record includes not only reinterpretations of the original tracks, but live performances of tracks “A.I”, “Spectrum”, a music video for the latter, a short film coming on 26th August, plus additional unreleased collaborations like “Right Thru” with artist and Shameless USA actor ZMNY.

Deluxe records can be tedious, irrelevant and offering little more than the original release, but Parker’s is a masterclass in making it count.
