It is no secret that Wonderland Summer 22 cover star, Paul Mescal, has an affinity for a good drama. From his touching performance in the breakout TV sensation, Normal People, to him gracing our screens alongside Olivia Coleman in the harrowing psychological feature, The Lost Daughter, the Irish actor has been keeping us on the edge of our seats since he burst onto the scene in 2020. And now, returning with what is set to be yet another compelling performance, Mescal is gearing up for the release of the coming-of-age film, Aftersun.

With streaming service MUBI giving us a brand new look at the film today, ahead of its release on November 18th, movie buffs and fangirls alike are being welcomed into the seemingly intimate world of father and daughter duo, Sophie and Calum. With Mescal taking on the role of a father tormented by the troubles associated with concealing secrets, alongside newcomer Frankie Corio, watchers are set to be transported into the 1990s where a seemingly joyous holiday on a Turkish beach resort unearths some unsettling truths, truths that the pair must face some twenty years later.

With the movie also standing as director and writer Charlotte Wells’ official feature debut, it is safe to say that the film’s release will be an explosive one, set to capture hearts and your unwavering attention later this year.
