When Barbie sought to mark three decades of the best-selling original Barbie Totally Hair doll, unique for its extra-long hair that allowed endless creative and coifing opportunities for its young owners, leading hair colourist Josh Wood was the natural number to dial.

Limited edition Barbie x Josh Wood Colour hair glazes, “Pink Quartz”, “Blue Reef” and “Peach Blush” are modelled by Alva Claire and Charley Dean Sayers in the anniversary campaign, coinciding with the re-issue of the classic doll. A re-imagining for the 2020s that showcases yet more possibilities of Barbie’s style and beauty, with curvy, tall and petite models, each with 8.5” of extra-long playable hair, adorned in magical pops of colour using Wood techniques crafted exclusively for the campaign. Barbie’s position as a timeless source of inspiration for blossoming fashion visionaries is affirmed once again.

Josh Wood, colourist for the likes of Saoirse Ronan, Florence Welch, and Victoria Beckham, and Executive Board Member on the British Beauty Council, launched revolutionary home hair colour system Josh Wood Colour in 2018. “’I am so proud to be working with Barbie on bringing contemporary hair colour into the realm of play,” Wood says. “Hair colour has always been creative and a way to express someone’s personality, so it’s great to collaborate on these new colour techniques with Barbie.’”
