You know that feeling, when the nightclub reaches that perfectly cramped capacity, as everybody slumps into one another under the spell of a hypnotically alluring beat? Well, Patricia Baloge bottles the very feeling in the titular song of her five-track EP, “Queen of the Dawn”. Fusing elements of funk and synth-wave together with her silky vocals, Patricia creates an attention-demanding cut that firmly sets the EP’s tone. Her sensual authority is sustained in the wake of “Queen of the Dawn” with “Unbothered.” As groove-inducing percussion meets with attitude oozing chords, who could dispute the artist’s lyrical affirmation; “The future is mine. The past? Who fucking cares about the past.” With a casual and simultaneously confrontational tone baked throughout, “Queen of the Dawn” proves that it takes little effort for Patricia to display the formidable self-assuredness that defines her artistry.

Imparting her own perspective of the effort, Patricia explains, “I am woman. I live. I learn. I shall let the World take my power, no more.” This EP serves as a reminder to women of all ages that they deserve the very best of this world and that anything less is not worth your energy. Making her achieved agency known in the music video for “Queen of the Dawn”, she is shown in the light of the rising sun, moving with a seductive spell that consolidates her multi-faceted appeal.

Channelling her eclectic upbringing into every ounce of her craft, the New York-based singer, producer and artist blends House, Afrohouse, Afropop and Synthwave, resulting in a seductive soundscape that features her instantly recognisable vocals.
