Let’s get real for a second: the current heatwave hasn’t exactly put us in the mood to be fully clothed and dressed all the way up. Nonetheless, the art of fashion commands visual pleasure over physical pain — as our style moguls know all too well. So while we have stripped to basics under the torpedo of an old office fan over the past week, we look back at the drip-filled world of celebrities, who have delivered the heat in other ways over the past seven days, keeping us loyal to our wardrobes no matter the weather.
To see how the likes of Bella Hadid and Brent Faiyaz turned it out over the past week, head below now…
Bella Hadid revived the black cami

No stranger to bringing the fashion styles of the past back to the present with a punch, Bella Hadid took another Y2K staple into the year of ’22, fashioning a classic scoop-neck cami for an off-duty day around town. Pairing the plain vest with a blood-red shirt, she completed the look with a denim-textured pencil skirt embellished with leopard-print frilly trimming. Accessorising with some slim black sunnies, statement gold jewellery and calf-high gogo boots, Bella had us all digging into the back of our draws to revamp our long-neglected basics.
Teyana Taylor delivered the mother-daughter drip

Offering fashion and baby fever in equal parts, Teyana Taylor earned herself a spot in this week’s round-up thanks to her monochrome matching moment with her daughter. Styling graphic biker jackets designed by Patrick Church, the duo made it a true family affair with matching headdresses, woven in a way that exposed a totally different design to their boxy leather outerwear. And proving there is no end to her ability to coordinate, Teyana posed in front of a sofa boasting the same pattern — the only way we will be dressing for scenic road trips in the future.
Kim Kardashian served a Samurai-approved silhouette

Whilst we are fully aware the stylistic choices of Kim Kardashian are far from practical, this Samurai-inspired silhouette took things to a new level. Sporting an all-black leather two-piece, she paired a floor-length skirt with a wrap-around jacket, giving all of the airtime to her blinged-out Balenciaga handbag. Adding some shaping with a thigh-high split, she exposes her leg in thick black tights and her iconic sock court heels. We’ll recreate this one in winter, maybe.
Brent Faiyaz braved the business attire

If the Men In Black took over fashion week, we imagine it would look a little something like Brent Faiyaz’s most recent suit moment. Alongside a sizeable selection of enviable drip across his wrists and fingers, he fashioned a silk-look suit with a loosely buttoned shirt and knotted satin tie. Keeping it classy while remaining stylish and undone, Brent teaches all of us how to dress for a cool-boy-summer.
Lady Gaga brought the chrome to Chromatica

Though last night might have been a mundane Sunday for many, for those in Dusseldorf, it was the opening night of Lady Gaga’s Chromatica Ball Summer Stadium Tour. Entrusting Alexander McQueen to do all of the dressing, there was only one way to pay homage to the artist’s shows namesake: by wearing chrome. Washed in a molten metallic gold moiré, the custom-made sleeveless shirt and wide-legged trousers arrested our affection just as much as Lady Gaga herself. If you need us, we’ll be restlessly searching for tickets to see her (and her suit) in the flesh.
