While the mid-week blues may be well and truly setting in, we are here to kick your day into high gear with the hypnotising sounds of Sir Jude’s “Madonna”. An empowering ode to the icon herself; the new artist explores the glamorous aesthetics and legendary motifs that littered Madonna’s career, resulting in a tune that is nothing less than a dark-toned punk-pop feminist anthem – what a combination, right? As a monotone opening verse crescendos into an operatic chorus, we are treated to a dose of Jude’s ethereal vocals and experimental edge – attributes that have her pegged as one to watch this year.

“I think ‘Madonna’ is the next step in a new direction that I’m really excited about. It makes me feel powerful and unapologetic and I can’t wait for people to listen to it and feel the same,” divulges the artist when reflecting on her newest release. “When we wrote the song, it was so important for me to communicate feelings of empowerment, sexual agency and feminism. I tapped into the idea of the Madonna and the whore complex, and it felt perfect. Madonna as a name encompassed all of those things and it did so with the subtle inflexions of Catholicism and high fashion. It’s everything I am, everything I’ve questioned and all I take inspiration from.”
