PREMIERE: CHATEAU CHATEAU – GROW UP

The band take us on a journey with their fresh new LP, during which we watch frontperson Bleu learn from her experiences of the past.

Could you imagine a tracklist where every song is dedicated to at least one of your past toxic relationships? For the up and coming band Chateau Chateau, they did just that — creating an LP that is a collection of stories and experiences that have made frontperson Bleu Grow Up. A celebratory journey of personal growth, Grow Up is a crystal clear looking glass into multifaceted heartache — while keeping a funk-fevered feel throughout its sound.

From the bouncing beats of “Bunny” to the 80s feel of “Heroin”, Chateau Chateau explore every avenue of their artistry, evoking a heavy dosage of introspection, feeling and an inescapable groove.

Speaking on the effort, frontperson Bleu explains, “It’s our first release with the legendary label Kill Rock Stars. I got more honest than ever on this album, and kept the classic Chateau synthy, upbeat sounds behind the dark lyrics. This album is my coming of age story. Each song dissects a different trauma, mental illness, addiction, or obstacle I faced in my formative years. I talked about the difficult relationship with my father in a few songs, which was the hardest topic to open up about, as I still struggle with my choices, and I still get told awful things by him. But those songs, ‘I Don’t Love you Anymore’ and ‘Pray,’ ended up being two of my favourites because of how much they mean to me. At the end of the day, you have to put yourself first, and that’s one of the biggest messages behind Grow Up.”
