Meaning both a state of being disturbed as well as a specific period of time, the double entendre of “FAZE” speaks volumes for the depth of thought that went into IMVN’s latest project. Compiled into a six-minute short film, “FAZE” is an audio-visual EP that journeys into its four featuring tracks — bringing them to life through indiscernible neon lights and dreamlike visuals.

Standing before a projector, the artist watches a succession of home movies, while the backing soundtrack slowly unfolds an ongoing story of troubled relationships, and the person culpable for the disturbance that she is experiencing. Merging her jaded feelings with the passing of time, IMVN allows herself to “FAZE” in and out of consciousness under a blanket of downtempo R&B and electronic beats.

Speaking on the release of the visual project, IMVN says, “‘FAZE’ has been five years in the making. In a world oversaturated by content, I rely on ‘feeling’ above all else. This project has taught me so much of what it means to be open; to feel, and I wish for others to reflect on their journeys and open up the same way.”

From the dark and moody “DTB” to the sensual single “The Door”, the entire tracklist evokes a feeling of comeuppance — where IMVN can finally be set free. Accompanied by the dynamic short, “FAZE” proves a hard act to follow — yet feels just the beginning of IMVN’s imminent rise.
