THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER

Marvel drops the trailer for the fourth edition of the Thor franchise, and tease exciting new characters and ultimate plot twists.

It’s been months of covid-induced delays and grapevine rumours, but the first look into Marvel’s latest masterpiece Thor: Love and Thunder is finally here. And based on its teaser trailer, it will journey into totally new territory: delving into the mental state of the hammer-wielding God who happens to be in charge of the protection of mankind. Following 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, Liam Hemsworth will reprise his role as the titular character once more, seen at the start of the two-minute clip running across a setting sun as he transitions from a young boy into the man he is today while trying to work out who he truly is.

While the feature emanates the message that “not every God has a plan”, a normal-looking Thor draws into focus, signifying that he must search for a new identity now that his super-hero days are over. Accompanied by flashing clips of Chris Pratt and Tessa Thompson, the trailer also offers a first look at Natalie Portman, who joins the cast as Mighty Thor. Taking us on a ride of nostalgia, inquisition and discovery, the clip is packed full of stratospheric soundscapes, addictive storytelling and Marvel’s classic biting wit.

While the protagonist might be pursuing peace in a new way, Thor: Love and Thunder will undoubtedly hone in on the addictive mischief, loyalty, and humour the franchise is defined by and will be hitting our screens on July 8th this year.
