Sometimes, songs prevalent in the mainstream have the tendency to melt into one, so when the rare and experimental is released, it is impossible not to listen. Well, LUWTEN’s “Anybody” is one of those tracks. With sparse, synth-laden production contributing to an atmospheric sound, it is almost impossible to resist diving into the dreamy and other-worldly soundscape that emerges in the track. To add to the fever-dream nature of the release, the artist’s wispy-yet-all-consuming vocals promise to haunt, regardless of how angelic they may sound resulting in the harmonious clashing of juxtaposing energies.

‘”Anybody’ came out of nowhere. There was nothing and then three hours later there it was,” explains LUWTEN. “Following the stream of consciousness, it consists of small but powerful personal memories building up to bigger associations. It is maybe a reaction to society’s constant need to become someone, without leaving space for the beauty that lies within the small things and the unpredictability of life. It also ends with ‘but me with you,’ which might make it a love song after all. Being given the space to be you is the ultimate gift we can give each other.”

Adding to the avant-garde essence of the project is an accompanying music video, perfectly physicalising the feel of “Anybody”. With LUWTEN posing with a stoic expression, an artistic edge prevails as she plays with shadows and abstract angles in a truly mesmerising way. One of the most striking releases set to grace your screens and ears this week, “Anybody” is certainly worthy of your attention.
