There is no greater feeling than finding an album you can easily play on repeat from beginning to end, and that is exactly what Maddox Jones has delivered with his highly anticipated debut album Believe It. From the warming and serene “Ready to Be Better”, the artist ushers us into his introspective world where topics of empowerment and realisation sit at the forefront. Through the beautifully crafted melodies, we soon land at a tempo change with “Monsters”. Slower in tone and production, Jones strips back his sound and lets the intimate lyricism be the focal point of the song. Slowly gathering pace again as he takes us through the vulnerable “Beautiful Soul” and soothing “Magic”, we land at the Marvin Gaye-tinged “God Damn”, where 70s funk oozes effortlessly from the seams of the song and takes us straight into a state of assurance and relaxation.

But if there is one song that instantly grabbed our attention, it was without a doubt “Make Me Yours”. Taking a more mystical approach to his sound, Jones propels us into an atmospheric world with building dancefloor-ready synths and smooth subtle whispers. “I’ve been discovering more and more that the dynamics in a relationship are not linear,” the artist said when discussing the track. “One person is not in control, and there is so much to be learnt from being vulnerable and honest with your partner. This song is ultimately about letting go and trusting your partner is going to hold you when you need it most”.
