Providing a warm hug in the form of her twinkling new track, GRAACE unveils “Unhappy” accompanied by a tear-jerking music video. As soft piano keys invite you into the artist’s ethereal soundscape, attention is drawn to her soul-baring lyrics which bleed vulnerability into the choir-esque chorus. Much like its soundtrack, the visual emanates a fairytale-gone-wrong aesthetic, seeing GRAACE sitting alone at her piano in the middle of a garden decked with leafy foliage and dainty fairy lights. By the end of the visual, while she depicts the pain of losing hope and faith in love, GRAACE is met by a downpour of rain — allowing her pent up emotions to melt away into a warming melody.
“My first EP, ‘Self Sabotage’, was born through a chain of events; after torturing myself and putting incredible pressure on my relationships and friendships, I turned to art to ease the pain. I lived a fast-paced life during the period, being told where to go and what to do, that I lost sight of who I was and why I loved music. I forgot why I was doing what I was doing. So, after a year of feeling lost, I sat down in the mirror, wrote down the reasons why I started writing music when I was 12 and thought to myself, let’s rewrite your story. This is my story of ‘Self Preservation.”
Posing as some of her most raw and bold bodies of work to date, her latest EP “Self Preservation” brims with the artist’s newfound confidence. Dedicating much of her artistry to embolden and comfort others, GRAACE is undoubtedly the artist to turn to when in need of self-assurance and moving tunes. To stream the video now, head below…
