If pure energy and dance-worthy tunes are what you are after on this cloudy Tuesday, Graham Lake is the only artist that you should be paying attention to. With pop sensibilities clashing with the sounds associated with any good dance track, “Run em Down ” is an unmatched example of the way in which emerging artists are transcending the boundaries of genres to provide us with energising and eclectic tunes, earworming in nature. With Graham also recruiting the likes of the acclaimed British rapper Avelino to feature on this new project, the Stockholm-native unites his attitude-laden vocals with those of equal measure, culminating in a collaboration worthy of the name.
Whilst divulging the details regarding his latest single, the artist explained, “’Run em Down’ was made during a part of my life when many people influenced my decisions, dreams, and ambitions. My music was the thing keeping me grounded and this song came to be my freeing from all those attachments. I never intend to speak on what my song’s true meaning is because it’s different for everybody but to me, it’s a celebration of knowing what you deserve and that nothing besides yourself can stop you from reaching that.”
To accompany the new track, the artist has also treated us to a truly dramatic music video. Whilst pacing around a visually stunning yet bleak-toned forest and standing before an amber fire, director Gustav Sjölund captures the artist in a captivating light as he serenades the camera, adding a dash of dramatics to an already stellar project. Sure to be stuck on repeat for the remainder of the week, “Run em Down” is a track you should not be sleeping on.
