If the worries of this world have become a little too much for you to bear this week, alternative artist Vita has just dropped a set of truly other-worldly tunes sure to have you entranced and in a dream state. Unveiling her EP, “LIBRE”, brace yourselves for a sonic journey unlike any other as the whirl of chaotic production weaves into rock-tinged instrumentation from track to track, all of which are united by features from Vita’s angsty vocal tone and rapping ability – attributes that have her categorised as an artist to watch out for this year.
But, while sonically delightful and extraterrestrial, the six tracks that fill the EP are rooted in a much deeper and more meaningful reality. With the artist openly approaching the traumas of her past with candour, listeners of the new project will quickly be alerted to the pain that Vita has sadly endured throughout her lifetime. But, thanks to bold penmanship and an unwavering will to re-build towards a brighter future, a defiant yet tentatively hopeful message surges through the EP’s core, making it one filled with tender introspection and soul-baring confessions.
“This moment is a cultivation of years of hard work and self-discovery. During the making of this project I was dead broke living in my friend’s closet, in the middle of a global pandemic, healing from a string of traumatic events that seemed to make up the majority of my life,” explains Vita when discussing how the project came to be. “I had been emotionally and physically abused by multiple people in my life but I never considered myself a victim because survival had become my natural state of being. I was fucking tired of just surviving. I was tired of letting external sources dictate the pathway of my life, tired of living up to the expectations of society as a woman. I felt suffocated under the weight of it all. I was angry and frustrated at the realisation that the ideas I had built the foundation of my reality on were not mine. That in order to gain real freedom and autonomy within my own life, I had to unlearn everything and completely rebuild my belief systems. Every song on this project is a battle cry for those who are in search of freedom, who are dissatisfied with the current state of our society and are ready to stand up and make a difference not only for themselves but for everyone.”
