It’s been a long week. From the miserable weather at the beginning to the WFH order slowly coming to a close, we’re in need of a release and RIIVA is providing with her new track “Madonna”. Introducing us to a dark and sultry production laced with disco-pop elements and smooth synth melodies, the artist channels a more mysterious sound as she delves into unfulfilled desires.

“I wrote ‘Madonna’ after I met someone who literally thought I was the love of his life,” the artist said. “Just cause I was a little different than the people he usually hangs out with, he projected everything he longs for in a woman onto me, as if I could make all his problems go away or fulfil his desires. First of all, I didn’t send any signals and second of all I’m far from that perfect person he thought I would be. Still, it was kinda cute cause he was a nice and decent guy. He just seemed so innocent and naive but he definitely couldn’t read me or the room.”

Serving as the lead single from her first mini-EP, the artist continues to explore more experimental sounds as she unravels stories of female sexuality and its perception in today’s society. Teasing that there are two more EPs on the way, it’s fair to say RIIVA fans are going to be eating good this year.
