Beginning with a sentence that every girl has uttered in a state of despair, Crystal announces “I need a drink” and begins her descent into the darkness of the night. An addictive beat ensues, underpinned by a gritty bass guitar that packs power into the high-energy track. Bringing the concepts to life, the accompanying music video sees Crystal fitted with lace, fishnet and chains — ready to dance with the devil in style.
In her own words, Crystal explains, “‘Hot Mess’ is a song I wrote about the darkness of the night and how we can easily fall into the recklessness of the night. In the video, I wanted to show how the devil can catch you and kind of bring to life the two personas that I can have in my music”.
Hacked from her energetic EP “Twisted Bases”, “Hot Mess” is one of Crystal’s most relatable releases yet, and therefore earns a coveted spot on our pre-party playlists. Having already cultivated such a unique image and aesthetic, all eyes are officially on the Paris-hailing musician to see what she will get up to next.
