BAFTAS 2022

Here is everything that went down at this year’s awards.

And just like that, we find ourselves plummetting into another awards season! With COVID restrictions seemingly scrapped and Spring setting in, it is fair to say that the music, movie and TV celebrations are well and truly back on, starting with the BAFTAs. Taking place this weekend, some of Hollywood’s best and brightest descended on the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate those turning it out on the big screen over the past year. With this in mind, we have taken the time to highlight some of the standout moments from the affair. Head below to enjoy our round-up of best moments from this year’s BAFTAs…

The return of the Gaga platform

It wouldn’t be a BAFTAs without some hype-worthy red carpet looks, and this year, Lady Gaga took the cake. Yes, her custom Ralph Lauren dress gave us dramatic Hollywood glamour, but it is the shoes that we are here to discuss. Plunging us back into her 2010 meat dress era Gaga debuted a pair of sky-high platform boots akin to her earlier, experimental styles. Thanks for the throwback, Gaga.

Rebel Wilson has a very important PSA

Did she stutter, though? The night was of course a celebratory affair, but many did take the time to highlight the harrowing events currently underway in Ukraine, and Rebel Wilson’s was arguably our favourite tribute.

Lashana Lynch was celebrated backstage

The BAFTAs are a great time to celebrate the best in emerging talent, and last night actress on the rise Lashana Lynch had her moment. After receiving the coveted EE Rising Star award, Lady Gaga celebrated the actor with a round of applause, an accolade as exciting as the award itself, some would say!

Troy Kotsur made BAFTAs history

Acclaimed movie, CODA, caused quite the buzz last night and Troy Kotsur is one of the reasons why. The 53-year-old actor was recognised for his poignant performance as Frank Rossi in the film during the ceremony as he was honoured with the Best Supporting Actor award, making history as the first deaf actor to do so. Congrats, Troy.

We love a red carpet couple debut

Millie Bobby Brown was one actress that got Twitter talking last night, and this is for two reasons. Of course, the undeniably sweet scenes of the Stanger Things actress making her red carpet debut with boyfriend, Jake Bongiovi, was a talking point of the evening, but that was not the only duo that Millie was a part of last night. Posing for pictures with the incomparable Florence Pugh, we were treated to a glimpse of the new on-screen collab of our dreams. So, who is going to cast these two in a movie together?
