If uplifting is what you need on this mundane Thursday, musician and visual artist Baby Yors has just the thing to lift your spirits. Blending English and Spanish on the bi-lingual tune “Freak Out The People”, a truly joyous message on the importance of diversity presents itself on a tune celebratory in nature and divine in tone.

“I was raised in a conservative, largely Catholic city, where homosexuality is seen as something unholy, much like in many other parts of the world,” explains Yors. “Under that ideology, if I am attracted to a man, it must be the devil casting a spell on me—or perhaps I am in love with the devil himself. The alienation that many queer people experience can become their strength. The inner voice that I found in solitude is personally my most valuable attribute. This song is an anthem of liberation. Not only for the queer but for the independent thinker, the other, the rebel, the alienated.”

Moving on to the track’s music video, we are invited to bear witness to the true extent of the musician’s artistry. Having directed, choreographed, edited, styled and produced the visually striking project in which he takes to a barren desert dressed in an array of vibrant, avant-garde looks allowing the striking juxtaposition to captivate all of those who witness it. With the track’s lyricism providing it with a heart-warming soul and symbolism running rife in the its visuals, it becomes clear that Baby Yors is one to watch in 2022.
