One sure-fired way to get fans pumped for an EP release is to have a single that leads the rest, which is exactly what Jane N’ the Jungle achieve as they unveil their title track “Ocean Creatures”. Following an out-of-body experience after being crushed by a car at 100mph, “Ocean Creatures” was born from the terrifying nature of the unknown, and the fight it takes to survive.

Brimming with raw emotion, the track calls upon futuristic synths and heart-pounding beats to evoke those fleeting moments of anxiety and uncertainty that threaten to consume us. Accompanied by an otherworldly visual, the imagery dives into the supernatural elements of fear — creating an overall effort that is as haunting as it is oddly comforting.

Of the project, Jane N’ the Jungle explain, “‘Ocean Creatures’ is an EP which we started at the beginning of 2020 at Pearl Sound Studios with Chuck Alkazian in Canton, MI before the lockdowns and finished when the band went back into the studio in January 2021. In this record we explored different elements of rock; pop rock, grunge, alternative rock, glam rock, and hard rock. We enjoyed the creative aspect of this project and being able to find new sounds with our music.”

While the Australian bushfires inspired the first track “Animal”, darkness and grit permeates the track “Lucky 7”. Dedicated to the trio’s love of the rock genre, “Trouble” sees in the head-bopping sensibilities of classic rock, and an addictive intensity is built in “Ain’t No Other Way”. The EP in its entirety is progressive, brave and evocative — something which only increases the anticipation of the bands upcoming shows.
