When it comes to a fashion show, it is fair to say that we all love a theme. But this season, Valentino gave this concept a whole new meaning as they unveiled their AW22 collection.
Giving the Carreau du Temple a shocking makeover, a pretty clear theme was set ahead of the collection’s debut as attendees lined themselves up in front of a runway akin to the stairs you’d expect to find in Barbie’s dream house. And the collection most definitely lived up to the set that it graced. With an array of striking pink gowns, suits, jackets and more being paraded down the catwalk, all exaggerated and bold in silhouette, no one could deny the colour palette of the show whilst basking in the fine craftsmanship highlighted by the pop-esque colour chosen. Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli ensured that emotions were evoked in the crowd as a joyous feeling hung in the air, making it near impossible to avoid grinning at the divine scenes synonymous with childhood fantasies that were being served up. In the name of contrast, however, we were also treated to some inky black cuts, providing some depth to an otherwise candy-hued collection.
With the likes of Zendaya, dressed in a floral-adorned three-piece hacked from the new line, and Lewis Hamilton littering the front row, it became clear that this was one of the most coveted shows to be unveiled at PFW, and the clothes that filled it did not disappoint. BRB, we are off to adopt an all-pink aesthetic.
