It’s been nothing but runways and catwalks in the fashion world, and though many of us did not have the opportunity to attend the main meal, we have been absolutely feasting on its offerings. From front row royalty to a new take on menswear, we have been given plenty of material to play with. And though we couldn’t pick a favourite, we round-up the show-stopping looks of the past week. LOOKS OF THE WEEK
Kim Kardashian and Lady Gaga head this week’s fashion round-up.
Kim Kardashian slays in menswear
When it comes to pulling off looks for fashion week, the more daring the better. Attending the Prada show, Kim Kardashian wasted no time embracing the brand to its fullest — from her head to her leather-covered fingers. Wearing a lime-green button-up boiler suit from Prada’s F22 Menswear Collection, she fashions a broad-shoulder coat in a gun-metal grey. Opting for an oversized look, the material pools around her ankles and wrists, departing from her signature skin-tight silhouette. Completing the look with a slicked-back bun and sunnies, it’s safe to say the gates to the fashion possibilities of menswear are officially open, and we are stepping in with style.
Lady Gaga goes bridal
Though note-worthy looks are guaranteed during fashion week, it is the award ceremonies that are so often slept on. Showing us what we’re missing, Lady Gaga took to the ‘gram in a bejewelled bodice, enwrapped with soft ivory silk that goes into a floor-length gown. Designed by Giorgio Armani, the dress was paired with a Tiffany and Co necklace — originally designed by Jean Schlumberger in 1958. While the gown remained simplistic by nature, the intricate detail of the flower-shaped diamonds added a touch of vintage elegance — the perfect recipe for a red carpet-worthy wardrobe.
Vanessa Hudgens makes a splash
Dripping in Versace, Vanessa Hudgens attended the SAG Awards draped in an aquamarine number, complete with a plunging cowl neckline and high-thigh slit. Keeping her accessories a brushed shade of gold, full attention is given to the ensemble — finished with a knotted accent at the hips and Versace motifs on the spaghetti straps. She’s truly living all of our mermaid fantasies in this one, and we will be on the phone to Donatella to order our own in due course.
Hailee Steinfeld proves nothing beats an all-black look
Topping up Law Roach’s legacy is Wonderland cover star Hailee steinfeld, who took to the red carpet fitted in a custom Miu Miu ballgown. Carving our her bust, the bralet is beaded with Onyx-like stones, which effortlessly catch the light of flashing cameras. Fitted with thick shoulder straps, the dress scoops below the actor’s torso, as the beading eventually gives way to a soft liquorice material. With smaller beads flowing down the entire dress, Hailee is quite literally dripping in jewels, aided by the help of Tiffany and Co diamonds and Jimmy Choo accessories. Can you style us next, Law?
Reese Witherspoon brought out the diamonds
Before the days of Instagram, we learned about the most coveted designers through Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde, and proving her eye for fashion is as sharp as ever, she comes to the SAG Awards equipped with a custom Schiaparelli piece. With a bust-line reminiscent of Maleficent‘s horns, the detail adds a contemporary edge to an otherwise classic dress. Sculpting the waist, a baby blue ribbon wraps tight around her body, fanning out to a cape-like train which lays behind her black court heels. The star of the show, you may ask? It has to be the Cartier necklace that dresses the actress’s bare chest… what else?
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are front-row royalty
Taking a momentary break from SAG-related serves, we have Rihanna and A$AP Rocky sitting front and centre at Gucci and Adidas’ collaborative show Exquisite Gucci. As A$AP’s styles a pair of daffodil-yellow gloves from the sports brand, Rihanna serves empress-esque beauty in a chainmail headdress and an oversized puff of lilac faux fur. Keeping her baby in the spotlight, she wore a PVC bralet shrouded with light lace detail and a pair of low waisted Chinese dragon trousers.
The father, Jared Leto and the House of Gucci
Leading us swiftly into a Gucci-rich ending, we present Jared Leto. Attending the 2022 SAG Awards, he took inspiration from the red carpet with an oxblood tie, which helped to deepen the baby blue look of his three-piece suit. Designed entirely by Gucci, the look was brought to a high-fashion finish with a pair of sheer lace gloves, washed in a salmon hue. Yet the fact he had his hands covered did not stop Jared from coordinating his nail polish to his silk suit, and for that, he takes the crown.
