Is it just us who has found this week particularly hectic? Well, whether you have been battling storms or gracing LFW, it is fair to say that we are all in need of a break. And, what better way to send us into a self-care weekend than with a calming R&B cut. Lending their soulful vocals to new track “Honey”, non-binary artist Kile J is here to serenade you into a peaceful state.

In an oasis-bound music video, the artist takes to a lake and battles with sheer mesh in a truly ethereal manner as the song’s soothing tone is physicalised. And, with introspection and messaging routed in the importance of self-love prevailing, an overwhelming joyous air washes over the track. And, while all of the above is enough to render this a song worthy of being stuck on repeat, that is not where the excitement surrounding Kile J ends. With “Honey” also standing as an introduction to the artist’s upcoming EP of the same name, it becomes clear that they are planning on dominating the airwaves in 2022.

When discussing the upcoming EP, the artist explained, “There are moments where you can only understand if you’re a part of the culture, and there are also moments where I feel everyone can relate to it in some way. The underlying theme of the project is to tell black queer love stories authentically; not only ones about loving others, but ones about loving yourself as well.”
