It goes without saying that it’s been a hell of a week for fashion and beauty moguls. At the close of London Fashion Week, we have been inundated with trends from the very best designer’s which will define the year of 2022, but are we tired yet? Absolutely not. With a mindset that beauty inspo should be brimming over the edge at all times, we bring to you a look round-up full of outlandish lids, fairytale aesthetics and guest-list glamour. To see how the likes of FKA Twigs, Alexa Demie and Billie Eilish are creating show-stopping looks, scroll below…
BEAUTY LOOKS OF THE WEEK
We round-up our favourite beauty looks during the most important week for fashion.
FKA Twigs’ guestlist glamour
It’s commonly acknowledged that if you’re on a guest list for some of London Fashion Week’s most coveted shows, you better go all out with your ensemble. And proving it’s all in the face, FKA Twigs catches the spotlight with her iridescent diamante detailing. Taking the form of wings, the silver gems outline the artists eye, which pairs with her pearl-beaded crown and tulle-heavy skirt to create the ultimate fair-like vibe. Keeping her base understated, the twinkling accents are kept in full focus — another example of the “CAPRISONGS” singers messy Hollywood glamour aesthetic. Given that the makeup look has a stamp of approval from Simone Rocha, we personally cannot wait to recreate this one.
Uglyworldwide has eyes on the prize
Sometimes we don’t even see the point in beauty look round-ups, as the Instagram page of Uglyworldwide has a very common habit of delivering all the groundbreaking inspo we could ever need. Yesterday, the former Wonderland cover star posted ten brand new beats — all of which inhibits her avant-garde and against-the-grain attitude towards makeup. Though we are often not brave enough to step up to her level when it comes to creating looks, this one has had us ordering a bucket of golf leaf off Etsy. Giving Bond girl glamour with a cut of editorial edge, this look is undoubtedly one for our look-books, and finished with a rosy blushed base, has the potential to suit anyone and everyone.
Alexa Demie brings her mattitude
If Alexa Demie is doing it, then we are doing it to. And it would seem this rule does not just apply to the general public, as Jacquemus takes to Instagram to boast that the actress and singer has taken a famed liking to his brand — and slays in it. Though the cut-out shirt garnered wide applause, it was the matte-heavy makeup that did it for us. In true 90s icon fashion, the Euphoria actress incorporates a hue of grey-blue into her crease while keeping a frosted matte shadow across the lids and brow bone. Offset against the cool-tone look, her berry lacquered lips keep her Maddy-native vibe, and offers the perfect inspiration for a day-to-night beauty look.
Saweetie’s frosted tips
A true visionary of experimentation, there are very few lines that Saweetie will not cross to bring us Internet-breaking looks. And giving us her own twist on the legacy of frosted tips, she showcases some dramatic Elsa-approved nail extensions — lending a whole new meaning to her “Icy” brand. Given their intricate swirly design, there wasn’t much need for any other statements. Yet unable to help herself, the rapper teams her nails with a vibrant plum wig and diamond-heavy earrings. As her face exudes a subtle contour and a neutral colour palette, Saweetie commands a round of applause for her over-the-top accessories, and we are screaming with approval.
Billie Eilish channels her Dangerous Woman
Since the dawn of Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman era, we have developed an unhealthy affinity to latex. And keeping it alive and thriving is Billie Eilish, as she slapped our ‘grid with a sultry selfie, giving us all the urge to return to the blunt-cut fringes of our past. With her forehead and eyes kept undercover, Billie keeps a sheer glossy lip and barely-there base to compliment her bold and sexy accessories. To match her snood-style hair accessory, Billie pulls on a pair of long latex gloves and makes herself officially ready for the night ahead.
Zoë Kravitz’s bubble buns
We don’t know about you feel but for us, wearing hair down is so last year — and as we gear up to enter the third month of the year, we are in desperate need of some ways to rejuvenate a plain up-do. In this particular department, Zoe knows what’s what, and fashions her hair in multiple sections to create a collection of miniature buns. As stray hairs are left to float in the breeze, the style serves us Y2K energy with an effortless flair. All we need now is another pack of hairbands…
Paloma Elsesser’s baby blues
If you’re looking to make a bold statement but diamond-encrusted wings and gold-leaf shadow is a little too much, model Paloma Elsesser samples a happy medium: painting her lower lash line with a pastel shade of periwinkle blue. Taking to the catwalk of Supriya Lee, the waterline makeover helped Paloma’s chocolate button eyes stand out from the crowd, while perfectly complimenting her navy sheer garments. With little-to-no makeup on the base, the beauty look is both powerful and natural. Now we can all pretend we’re high-fashion models.
