LA’s very own Harper Starling, centralises themes of empowerment and self-love into her brand new uplifting dance single. Straying away from the norms of her counterparts, Harper uses her “influences that veer from Billie Holiday to Led Zeppelin via Dua Lipa, Anne-Marie, Adele and Freddie Mercury” to create something uniquely enthralling. For Harper, her focus lies within her lyrics, “because of all the reading I do, I’m more about lyrics than melody”, which really radiate off of this newest track. Backed up by a powerful Lady Gaga- esque voice, her captivating vocals sit beautifully on top of the funkiest beat and baseline you will hear this year.

“I always say that dancing was my first love but singing is my true love” – it is clear to see from her growing collection of singles that she loves fusing her two passions together backed up again by this latest release. Out on Friday the 18th of February, ‘Say My Name (Why Don’t Ya babe)’ is a refreshingly elevating track that bleeds with a groove that would struggle to fail to get anyone up on their feet dancing.

Starting her musical journey at school with dance classes, “where she immediately shone,” to earning herself a #1 spot off of the billboard dance charts with her hit Euphoria back in 2018, Starling now embarks on her UK tour debut supporting the one and only boy-band superstars The Wanted which will go ahead from 3rd March. Harper is starting to fulfil dreams of hers that she’s had ever since she was a kid, “I’ve wanted to come to the UK for the longest time,’ she says. ‘It was my mum’s favourite ever trip – she loves the history – and so I’ve been groomed to want to come to the UK, and I’m coming twice this year!”

Harper’s rapid growth as an artist could really begin to solidify her name into the up and coming era of the dance music scene. She has the potential and all the right elements that are needed to take her to next step and if Harper continues putting in the hard work/dedication that so clearly beams off her work then she will only continue in supporting this sentiment.
