Mind-blowing performances, champagne on tap and celebrity blunders — the BRITs is officially back. Hosted by new faces, full of emerging artists and with enough wardrobe envy to last a lifetime, the award ceremony provided us with plenty of note worthy moments. As Adele adds three more trophies to her tally, Little Simz is awarded her first BRIT as Best New Artist, and Dua Lipa and Bruno Mars were celebrated across different continents. Though the awards marked some of the most emotional spectacles of the night, we have decided to round-up our personal favourite best bits that make this years show one to remember…

Maya Jama’s quick change

Maya Jama

When it comes to any Academy Awards, our look-books are open and ready to note the very best of the red carpet, the stage and beyond. Let us tell you this, Maya Jama’s name practically covered every page. Taking to the red carpet in a Cher-inspired liquorice two-piece, Maya styles the Monot outfit with slicked straight hair, chandelier earrings and a fluffy black shrug. Featuring a zig-zag hemline and sensual cut-outs below the waistline, the look gave us elegant Hollywood glamour with an edgy London flair. Quickly becoming the ultimate icon, she did not limit her appearance to just one outfit. While turning her hands to mojito making, she also served us with a strawberry and coral two-piece, with an off-the-shoulder silhouette that cuts away at the midriff. The pinnacle of both outfits, however, would have to be the multi-carat diamond that caught the glimmer of cameras throughout.

Little Simz and her mum

This one really gave us some leaky eyeballs. While accepting the award for Best New Artist, the singer brought her mum to the stage to see what she had accomplished. Overwhelmed by the huge applause, flashing lights and weighty trophy, Little Simz’s mother beamed with pride, while the artist thanked her fans for their support. Proving that she is living proof that you can achieve anything you work for, Little Simz accepted the award and blew away her audience with a performance of “Introvert & Woman”.

Adele soaked up wine

It’s no surprise that Adele essentially owned the BRITs, and demonstrating exactly why she was commemorated with Artist of the Year, she came to the ceremony equipped with her effortless charm and genuine persona to grace the stage an impressive number of times. Sitting casually on top of a grand piano dressed in a gold and sage sequinned Valentino number, she squeezed every drop of her heart and soul into the piano ballad — and left her viewers speechless. Also styling a custom velvet Armani Privé gown with a plunging neckline and polka dot tulle, the artist proved herself a true visionary — from her red-carpet looks to her honest and open acceptance speeches.

Presenting Mo

No matter the guest-list, drink menu or itinerary, an event can always turn into a flop if not hosted correctly. Making his debut as the sole host of the night, an onslaught of witty remarks and political punches were left out to dry as Mo Gilligan had the audience of 4,000 faces in stitches of laughter. Keeping the viewers both at the event and at home thoroughly entertained throughout, his infectious energy made the ’22 event one of the most enjoyable yet — not to mention his newfound confidence after showing off his Peaky Blinders-inspired three piece suit.

The collaboration we didn’t know we needed

Over the past year we have seen Ed Sheeran make an admirable effort to surprise fans with exciting and unexpected collaborations. After working with the likes of Elton John, Yebba, Justin Bieber and Cardi B amongst others, we thought we had seen all the possibilities in which his catching tunes could be blended. Enter, Bring Me The Horizon. Giving us a twist we never saw coming, Ed performed alongside rock band to give a chilling and hell-raising rendition of “Bad Habits”. With no genre off limits for the Songwriter of the Year, we are more impatient than ever for his upcoming collaboration with Taylor Swift, due to drop this Friday.
