With January finally coming to a close, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate its last weekend than putting in maximum effort with our beauty looks. Thankfully, with help from the likes of Maya Jama and Saweetie pulling off new styles, we have been left with an absolute feast of inspiration. So whether you’re looking to change up your hair or seeking some adventure away from your usual pallets, scroll below to see how are celebrities are keeping things fresh…
BEAUTY LOOKS OF THE WEEK
Bubblegum buzzcuts and glowy glamour feature in this week’s round-up.
Maya Jama’s bangs. That’s it. That’s the headline.
If there was one thing I definitely did not need to see after spending almost a year of my life growing out my last spur-of-the-moment fringe cutting… it was this. Maya Jama really can do no wrong when it comes to her glam, and pushing the boundaries of her beauty once again, she snaps a selfie with freshly cut bangs — which she has named Trisha, naturally. Offering a new dimension to the radio presenter and DJ’s cheekbones, the centre of her face is drawn into focus, flushed with a nude glossy lip and peach-licked cheeks. Overall, it’s an absolute serve, and if our next hair salon trips get a little scissor happy, we’ll know who to blame.
Rainy Milo serves us a strawberry sundae
We are sorry to announce that Rainy Milo now officially owns the colour pink — and she certainly does not mess around. Featuring a bubblegum pink shaggy cut, the artist teams diamond chandelier earrings with a t-shirt adorned with a Ghanian flag. For the face, glow is the assignment: with an opalescent shimmer bathed over a dewy base, Rainy’s visage reflects more light than her diamond drip. Staring fiercely into the camera, her lashes are elongated towards the ends, offering a more subtle technique to achieve a fierce feline look. From the hair to the pink hues flushed over her base, lips and nails, Rainy achieves sugar-sweet elegance with ease.
Storm Reid is seeing double
Though we don’t like to admit it, our Euphoria obsession runs so deep it’s hard to believe Storm Reid isn’t our little sister. So as you can imagine, we were beaming with pride when the actress took to the streets of Manhattan, padded in Prada from head to toe. Offering a style that is entirely her own, Storm sweeps her distressed mocha braids to the side, while her fiery eyeliner commands full focus to her face. With a double smokey wing framing her eyelids, the makeup look is bold with camera-ready energy, and is the perfect technique to try for our hooded-eye friends.
Charli and Rina’s bombshell
At the very top of our pre-party track-lists are the nostalgic pop hits of Charli XCX and the high energy bangers of Rina Sawayama. In one of 2022s best plot twists so far, the pair are collaborating to inject a fresh dose of power into our playlists. And judging by the photo Charli recently posted on the ‘gram, this will also be served with a side of earthy, angelic glamour. As the pair pose in silky ivory slips and sheer cotton shirts, their makeup maintains a neutral palette throughout. With a rusty hue sweeping across Rina’s lids, Charli’s offer a tonal shimmer. Both brunettes have their hair lightly waved, yet slightly tousled and out of shape. The looks mesh perfectly together, offering a gritty take on glam, while retaining an element of purity.
Saweetie at your service
Up next is a mental image of what we *think* we look like while being served at a MAC counter. Of course, there is only one person who could actually sit on such a statement look — and that’s MACs latest ambassador Saweetie herself. And, it would appear, Miss Milo has sparked a trend, with yet another bubblegum buzz breaking through our beauty looks round-up. With holographic violet thigh-highs, Saweetie retains all the Hollywood glamour in her flawless face beat. Contoured with deep toffee shades, the high-points of the rappers face are baked to perfection. She swaps highlight for the bling of her layered chokers and exaggerated cocktail ring, styled with Gucci gloves. Altogether, the look is the ultimate blend of old-fashioned Hollywood charm and modern underground style.
Ariana Grande is our ice queen
In a teaser for chapter two of her makeup brand, r.e.m. beauty, Ariana posted some behind-the-scenes footage of the first chapter, where she herself quite literally launched into the beauty market. One look in particular that we are struggling to get over is this one, emanating otherworldly beauty with a feminine touch. Featured at the focal point are seamlessly blended cut-creases, with a frosted white base. So simple in theory, the eye look is both icy and angelic, and can suit any complexion. Offset with matte brushstrokes and a hint of sparkle above the cheekbone and below the brow bone, Grande looks to her hair for the finishing touches. Slicked down strands of hair cascade round the singer’s face, wrapping intricately round her neck and curling into her clavicle. The result is both ethereal and breathtaking in equal parts. We tried to recreate the look ourselves after stepping out the shower, but unfortunately, the evidence was completely destroyed.
Uglyworldwide’s multi-use brow pencil
If you have been scrolling through the trends of Beauty-Tok this week, you may have stumbled across the latest hack to achieving the perfect shade of lips. According to users worldwide, the most complimentary lip liner for your face will be the same product you use to fill in your brow. Testing (and obviously proving) this theory is Uglyworldwide, snapping a selfie with rouge-painted lips fashioning a chocolate brown outline. The use of the shade across the entire face helps pull the look together — not to mention the added spice from her laid spiky edges. The 90s grunge vibe emanates from the thinly drawn brows to the bold lip and rock-inspired hairstyle. Once again, Uglyworldwide shows there is not one look she cannot eat up and swallow.
