Though Paris fashion week saw a stunning accolade of the late float across the runway, the house of Louis Vuitton had yet another tender tribute up its sleeve. In a vibrant homage to the bicentenary of Louis Vuitton’s birth, the French luxury fashion house reveals “Bravery Chapter II” — a second instalment of the emblematic high jewellery collection. Unveiled during the couture week at Maison Louis Vuitton Place Vendôme on the 24th of January, the unique pieces sparked a new language in high jewellery design, and were showcased in all their glory in the presence of their designer, Francesca Amfitheatrof.

The “Bravery Jewellery” collection is a physical encapsulation of Louis Vuitton himself. While the first chapter celebrates his pioneering spirit after leaving his hometown at 14 to pursue Paris by foot, the second chapter ushers in the conversation around Louis Vuitton’s creative genius — and the fruits of the labour which followed. As such, the second instalment – composed of 20 new pieces – draws inspiration from arguably the most innovative and progressive creations of the Louis Vuitton lineage: the flat trunk. The trunk, which catapulted the designer to visionary status, completely revolutionised the world of travel. “The Bravery Jewellery” line thus follows suit — heralding an iconic title thanks to its unique, daring and transgressive features.

Encrusted with a wealth of unique stones and settings, the pieces incorporate the locks and clasps reminiscent of the trunk. Reimagined with playful patterns and bold colours, the collection emanates timeless beauty with a twist of renewed elegance throughout.

Composed around four themes: Le Multipin, Le Magnétisme, La Mini Malle and Cocktail Rings, the pieces play off every corner of the founders energy. With over 100 colourful stones set on the Le Multipin necklace, Louis Vuitton’s excess of passion and creativity radiates from every pink, green and citrine shade. His attention to detail is perfectly captured by the rectangular silhouette of the Le Magnétisme necklace, which reflects the shape of its muse, the trunk. Gender fluidity is carved into the monochrome La Mini Malle, while the impressive sets of pink and ruby sapphire cocktail rings pay tribute to Louis Vuitton’s passion for decadence and delicacy.

With Louis Vuitton’s DNA pulsing through every link and chain of the emblematic collection, the pieces will leave the same timeless legacy as the luggage invented by Louis Vuitton back in 1854.
