With it being Monday yet again, we’re taking a gentler approach to the new week: facemasks, bouts of herbal tea and all. And here to soundtrack our calming new approach is Allan Rayman with “Rider”. Ushering us into a slow-burning soundscape with retro-tinged synths and oscillating punchy drums, the artist subtly makes his entrance with raw gravelly vocals and ear-worming echos. Keeping the production element minimalistic with only a few instruments, the singer puts all the focus on the heartfelt lyricism, as he breaks down the loss of character you can experience in the industry and the shortcomings of artists.

“Together the songs and video tell a story of an artist who creates an alter ego to handle success in the music industry and what happens when you lose yourself in that character,” the artist shares. “Ultimately the album is by an artist for an artist. It shines a light on the negatives that come with this career choice. With an underlying theme that our shortcomings as artists are our strength; makes for good music – real music.”

Serving as the first teaser from his upcoming album due out in March, Rayman sets the scene for what is due to be an eye-opening project. Revealing that the 13-track album will document his career to date and finding positivity in a negative space, be sure to expect nothing but honesty in the singer’s latest release.
