With the likes of Prada and Fendi hitting the runways hard last week, you may well think you’ve had more than enough fashion inspiration infiltrating your feeds. However, as the likes of Bella Hadid, Em Rata and Jaden Smith will demonstrate, you can never really have your fill of statement fits. Offering looks for your off-duty go-to, mid-week cocktails and hungover zoom calls, scroll below to see the fits that marched their way into this week’s Looks of the Week…
LOOKS OF THE WEEK
70s chic and out-of-office outfits: Bella Hadid, Kourtney Kardashian and Alexa Demie feature in this week’s round-up
Kourtney Kardashian enters the Matrix
Starting off our round-up with a Morticia Addams-approved silhouette is Kourtney Kardashian, who took to the grid wearing a multi-way two-piece by Mame Kurigouchi. Offering a totally new flavour to her coveted sexy style, the piece perfectly carves her figure, with a boat-neckline just exposing the collarbones, so that its inbuilt choker can steal full focus. While the bell-sleeves exude elegance in-keeping with the fit-and-flair design, it was Kourtney’s accessorising skills which gifted the look its note-worthy hype. Styling Dior shades and a slouchy pair of Gia Borghini boots, we are left with the perfect no fuss Friday fit — no self-tanning or leg shaving required.
Bella Hadid takes a plunge
When going to a soiree with the likes of Alexa Demie and Sydney Carlson, your fit would undoubtedly have to be at the very top of your style’s A-game. This posed no challenge for our Bella, who walked the streets of West Hollywood in an ensemble that both bowed to the best of 70’s fashion, as well as showing off a Y2K aesthetic. Draped in a silky chocolate high-low, the dress is every bit as daring as it is nostalgic. With a cutaway back and a deep plunging neckline, the sparkling circle accent ruches the excess material at the model’s hips before it cuts to a waterfall skirt. The crowning jewel, of course, had to be the square-toed gogo boots, which thanks to the heightened hemline of the gown, really had a moment of their own.
Emily Ratajowski styles chainmail chic
Taking “party in the front” very seriously this week was Emily Ratajowski, shrouded in statement fringing reminiscent of an intergalactic jellyfish. Borrowed from the Paco Rabanne Spring/Summer runway of 2018, the American model, actress and writer styles the backless chainmail with low-cut relaxed suit trousers, offering the ideal coupling of high-end glamour and modern counterculture. Though the statement piece is no longer available to buy, we’re hoping the fit will ensure exaggerated fringing makes a comeback before the next party season.
Jaden Smith’s retail therapy three-piece
Real kings wear purple, obviously. In an impromptu photoshoot taken on a shopping trip, Jaden Smith wears all the hues of periwinkle on his puffer, which perfectly compliments his coordinating blazer, shirt and tie. Paired with grey wash jeans, the top-heavy look shows us how to make a bold entrance, even when half of your face can’t.
We’ll have a Matt Champion on the rocks
Since Brockhampton announced their split last Friday, we have been searching for new and improved ways to drown our sorrows. Ironically enough, however, it was Matt Champion himself over rocks which proved the most appealing option. Fashioning a stop-sign-red beanie and a daffodil-yellow nylon bomber, the rapper took to Instagram to announce the bands involvement in Coachella 2022. If Matt is anything like us, the sunglasses were a choice of necessity over style, so as to conceal the puffy eyes of true heartbreak.
Alexa Demie is currently out of office
Just when we thought Alexa Demie could not paint herself more iconic, she dresses for a Euphoria season two interview in what we can only assume is what our last braincell might wear on a Monday afternoon. With hair covered in a liquorice silk wrap and comfort at the forefront all the way down to the silicone slippers, Alexa Demie is the IT girl of our hearts.
Eva Apio’s look is in the bag
Rounding off this week’s look-book is Eva Apio, styling the ultimate day-trip drip. From the cropped oversized puffer layered over a plain white zip-up, to the baggy leather trousers covering monochrome trainers, the comfort zone is the destination. The best thing to match with a Louis Vuitton duffel bag, you may ask? A paisley-printed Hermés handheld, naturally.
