With every new year comes new opportunities to transform and elevate our wardrobe. Or — especially in our case — our food pallets. But what if those worlds were to collide? If fashion and food collaborated in a way that helps the planet, as well as our outfits? In an innovative approach to raise awareness of the benefits of veganism, Mexican restaurant Chiquito draw inspiration from the infamous Jacquemus Le Chiquito to create a new vegan-friendly must-have. Suitably named ‘The Chiquito’, the 100% PU leather accessory boasts Pantone’s SS22 most standout colours. In-keeping with the chain’s iconic branding, the bag boasts a Chiquito-native blue body, completed by a daffodil yellow carry handle and detachable strap, finished with a brushed-gold fastening.
If the handbags unique and playful design was not enough to get the masses raising their bidding paddles, the brand have announced that all proceeds garnered will go to “Veganuary”. The charity, founded in January 2014, encourages people and businesses to move to plant-based diets as a means to protect the environment, prevent animal suffering and subsequently improving the overall health of millions of people. With only 100 limited edition top-handle bags made, the collection will be available to bid on throughout the course of January. The lucky winning bidders will be sent an exclusive piece alongside a dust bag and an individual production number card the following February.
