If there was anything getting us through the last year, it was undoubtedly the outfits. And while the festive season may now be officially over, we are seeing in a new year that has already made its mark on every fashion-lovers radar. From sequinned bras to puffer jackets and fluffy earmuffs, see how the likes of Dua Lipa, Saweetie and Don Toliver have influenced our 2022 mood boards in this years first looks of the week…

Dua Lipa had us seeing blue

It’s fair to say that Dua Lipa’s wardrobe was at the very top of our Christmas lists this year, and though Santa may not have delivered quite as we’d hoped, Dua certainly did. Posing with a backdrop of a warm evening in St Barts, a Bottega Veneta mini dress paid tribute to Dua’s unmatched power of pulling off any silhouette. Featuring feather-like fringing surrounding a shortened hemline and simple bustier, the cerulean-coloured piece makes a bold statement on the 2022 timeline. Styled with a 6-inch high pair of Scarlet D’Accori platform heels – which the brand itself has confessed are ‘not for the faint-hearted’ – Dua’s latest look took her to new heights.

Chlöe Bailey poured it up in a crystal-infused two-piece

Although there is almost never an occasion where we’d say no to a martini, Chlöe Bailey officially had us all gagging for a sip in a post that graced our feeds on a hungover New Year’s Day. Paying homage to Beyoncé’s 2004 music video, the singer gracefully perched in bubbles, dripping in a finely-jewelled bra and matching high-waisted pants. Like every good beverage, however, it was the delightful frills that did it for us. Adorning a Gatsby-esque headpiece, which dangled gems across her hairline, and layered silver chokers draping her collar bones, Bailey proved that less is more – unless you’re talking diamonds.

Miley Cyrus was in the prime of lime

In a bid to keep us well and truly fed for the festive fashion season, Miley Cyrus offered a countless array of show-stopping looks at her New Year’s Eve Party. In all her feather-dusted, chain-clad glory was our favourite star of the show, a sparkling mint green floor-length gown from Bronxandbanco’s Spring Summer ’22 collection. Providing the perfect match for Cyrus’s affinity for the provocative, the off-the-shoulder dress bared all with a side slit held together by only a thread and a gold chain. Despite a wardrobe mishap during her performance, we’re happier than ever to see Cyrus embracing her signature cut-outs and risqué taste.

Saweetie caused a buzz

I think we can all agree that the 1st of January often has us scrambling for ways to reinvent ourselves for the new year. It was Saweetie who took the crown this time, showcasing her bleached buzz-cut while dressed in all things sheer and sparkly during her energised performance at Cyrus’s New Year’s Party. With an olive-green wrap offering a perfect match for the dazzling holographic top-and-bottom set, Dolce and Gabbana transpire the artists love for “Icy” into her fashion. As if that wasn’t enough, Saweetie completes the look with diamond-encrusted sunglasses and a matching mic. If that isn’t committing to a look, we don’t know what is.

Bella Hadid heard no evil in blue fuzzy earmuffs

If diamond-encrusted lingerie and torso-baring tops aren’t your thing, don’t worry because Bella Hadid has got you. The model had all of us opting for comfort in 2022 as she was covered and coated in a stripped back look featuring fluffy cobalt ear-muffs and psychedelic tie-dyes, teaching us that if we can’t beat the January blues, we should just wear them instead. Topped off with an oversized quilted gilet, the model combined couture with comfort.

Don Toliver put stars in our eyes

Though it was Don Toliver’s unique blend of rap and R&B which catapulted him into fame, it looks like the American singer’s fashion game is upping the ante for the new year. His latest post left us all with stars in our eyes as he posed on top of a fresh blanket of ski-slope snow. Whilst teasing the release of his deluxe album Life of a Don, he sported baggy jeans covered in patchwork stars, paired with an oversized khaki puffer. If his outfit choices are anything to go by, Don might be keeping things under wraps for a little while longer.
