With the end of the year in sight and winter holding us in a tight grip, it’s fair to say the sad girl feels are in motion and singer-songwriter Sapphire is riding the wave with her new single “call u mine”. Ushering us into a stripped back soundscape, the artist puts all the attention on her soothing vocals, crooning over the slow-burning piano and harmonies. Getting candid on the all to familiar story of heartbreak for the track, the artist revisit the feeling of falling in love for the first time but ultimately realising it’s not always perfect in paradise.

Speaking on the single, the artist said, “I really wanted this song to mimic the feeling of falling in love – that warm fuzzy feeling that we’ve all experienced in some way. But even though the production mirrors that feeling, the lyrics explain how it’s not always happily ever after. I think ‘call u mine’ has really given me an opportunity to go back to my roots, taking inspiration from some of my idols like Carly Simon and Carole King. I’ve always felt like their songs came from the heart, which I’m hoping is how people will feel when they listen to this song.”
