When the news broke that the cast of Harry Potter would be reuniting for a celebratory anniversary special, it sounded as if it was almost too good to be true. And, with HBO Max knowing this, the streaming service has just given us our first official look at the upcoming show, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.

Upon first glance, viewers are instantly transported into the depths of Harry Potter’s magical realm as we are invited to indulge in feelings of nostalgia as the infamous scenes of the Hogwarts Express and Platform 9 & 3/4 fill the screen. And, with triumphant music blaring out and a sense of sorcery spilling out of the short clip, it becomes evident that the upcoming 20th Anniversary will be a touching tribute to the beloved franchise. And, the only thing that could heighten our anticipation further? As a fleeting look at some of the cast’s most renowned figures presents itself, including the likes of Matthew Lewis and Robbie Coltrane, fans are promised the reunion of their dreams – one that is set to include frontrunners Daniel Radcliff, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, we might add.

With the special set for release on New Year’s Day, it becomes clear that 2022 is kicking off with a bang, and we couldn’t be happier about it.
