At the age of 16, many of us were still muddling through school, finding ourselves and, let’s be honest, making mistakes. But, one young adult using her teen years to make waves in the music industry and establish her already-blossoming career is flowerovlove. Dropping her synth-heavy and infectiously chilled track, “Saturday Yawning”, the talent’s syrupy vocals quickly established themselves as some of the sweetest currently in the game.

“Well, ‘Saturday Yawning’ started off in March 2021 with the synthy beat made by the amazing Isaac Levine, then my brother Rearranged some stems some drums; my brother actually came up with the melody, and I came up with the lyrics. It was actually going to be one of his songs, but the lyrics I came up with were just too powerful,” explains the young artist when discussing her newest track.

Upon the release of the track, the young artist sat down with Wonderland to discuss how she first got into music and her personal Saturday morning routine. Head below to read our interview with flowerovlove…

Heya! How are you? How has this past year been for you?
Hi there! I’m so good, today I feel very blissful. This past year has been very quick, adventurous, and enjoyable. I’ve grown so much as a person and that is shown through my music.

With everything that happened last year, was your creativity affected in any way?
I think everything affected my creativity in a positive way as I’ve had so much time to make more music from the comfort of my own home!

How did you first get into music? What sparked the interest?
I’ve always loved music it pulls and connects all my organs and muscles. Music is my blood and oxygen. What sparked my interest to start making it was how I felt listening to other people’s music such as Frank Ocean, Tame Impala, especially, and the nostalgia I get from One Direction. I want to re-create that feeling of nostalgia.

You’re only 16, have you felt any pressures yet in the music industry?
I wouldn’t say I feel pressure as I’m very sure of myself. I know what I want, and people take me seriously because of the energy that I radiate.

And now you’ve dropped our new single, “Saturday Yawning”, which is super fun, talk us through the production process?
Well, “Saturday Yawning” started off in March 2021 with the synthy beat made by the amazing Isaac Levine, then my brother Rearranged some stems some drums; my brother actually came up with the melody, and I came up with the lyrics. It was actually going to be one of his songs, but the lyrics I came up with were just too powerful.

It’s all about comfort and being at peace, do you have your own ritual or Saturday morning routine?
Yes, I most definitely do! The first thing I do when I wake up is open my window, take a breath of air and collect my thoughts into gratitude, then I stretch and do some yoga and journaling! Then, I’d check my emails, because I’m obsessed with work, then shower and get on with the busy day – most likely go to school.

What do you want people to take away from your music?
I want people to take a piece of my universe and bring it into theirs from my music. I want them to take nostalgia, joy and ease at mind.

Who would you cite as your inspirations?
Tame Impala is the main one in all honesty, and I love Strawberry Guy.

Who would you love to collaborate with?
I’d love to collaborate with Dominic Fike!

What is next for you? What are you most excited for?
What’s next? World domination. I’m very excited for everyone to hear new music so much more is consistently coming
