With the year winding to a close, it is only fair that we begin to celebrate the endless amount of repeat-worthy hits and stellar musical talents that 2021 has had to offer. And, the AMAs exploded onto our screens last night to kick off the festivities, with a night filled with stunning performances and history-making wins. So, without further ado, head below to enjoy some of the highlights from the evening…

2021 is officially the year of Taylor Swift

While the release of “All Too Well” (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) and “All Too Well” (Sad Girl Autumn Verison) may have had you convinced that Taylor Swift’s magnetic hold over the music industry could not be strengthened, think again. Adding fuel to her already raging fire, Taylor took home another two AMAs last night, extending her title as the most decorated winner in the award’s history.

BTS said “world domination or nothing”

Coming as no surprise at all, BTS won big last night as they took home the AMA for every single category they were nominated in, including Artist of the Year, of course. Well done BTS Army, your powers know no bounds.

Giveon is us reacting to his performance

While Giveon’s sweet serenade of “Heartbreak Anniversary” was enough to warrant it one of the best performances of the night, the artist’s post-performance reaction, which saw him grinning and grabbing his face in disbelief, made it all the cuter.

It looks like Jojo Siwa is spending Christmas at Cardi’s

We knew that Jojo Siwa was a woman in demand, but Cardi B made it clear that she really is booked and busy.

Tyler, The Creator made it snow

Should you be trying to thrust yourself into the festive spirit, one watch of Tyler, The Creator’s AMA performance will get you there. Performing “MASSA” against a woodland backdrop, complete with an ice-adorned grotto, Tyler had us feeling festive.

Ladies and gentlemen, JoJo

We were very happy to see pop icon, JoJo, make her return to the AMAs this year, standing as her first time attending the awards since 2004. Welcome back, JoJo.
