It started in childhood for film-maker Lewis Andrews. Every Halloween, young Lewis would create horror films with his friends but what he didn’t know then is when you hit fast forward, present-day Lewis would be behind the scenes on movie sets for Hollywood blockbusters. From James Bond to Mission Impossible, Lewis has been a man of the lens in the movie-making process.

His mini production company Wonderfilm Pictures has seen Lewis create music videos, commercials for top brands such as Vogue and short brand films. His latest endeavour, a music video for Manchester-hailing singer songwriter Jake’s latest track ‘DRINK’ is where we can really see why Jake got him on board.

Part music-video, part psychedelic thriller, “DRINK” shows off Jake’s vocals, a melodic nod to 1960’s rock and hip hop set against a backdrop of swirling sights and trippy visuals. Lewis was given free reign over how he envisioned “DRINK”’ by Jake’s manager, Weezy and the rest is music video history. The track – a honest reflection of Jake’s past issues with mental health – talks about turning to alcohol for escape and the feelings surrounding that, all visualised by Lewis with inspirations drawn from the likes of Bladerunner and A$AP Rocky’s L$D. Neon colours and trippy animals swirl around the screen, all thanks to a Google AI generated video later by computer graphics wizard morn1415.

The video, featuring a Jake doppelgänger NHS worker, fight scenes, dirty bedrooms, rats and Jaguar cars all shape the trip that takes place throughout the track, with skills learnt on the job and a heavy trap groove to top it all off – all seamlessly tied together by music producer Freeme. Not just a music video, it’s a film verging on art getting us excited to see whatever comes next.
