Skøien and Slowface are the Swedish dream team we never knew we needed who have just dropped the dance-pop anthem for the ages, “Rendezvous”. After locking themselves away in Mälmo, Slowface’s home city, for a year in order to create the most organic sound, it’s fair to say the hard work has paid off as the track brings together Skøien’s unique sound, a signature blend of Swedish dance-pop with the identifiable arrangements of R&B, whilst producer, Slowface adds an experimental twist to the table.
“The song is written through the lens of a relationship from the past resurfacing. While finding yourself stuck in old ways, the song is about addicting, even if you don’t want to, that you can’t seem to stay away from this person – and diving headfirst without knowing where you’ll land. The song touches topics such as feeling anger, helplessness, not being in control – all while portraying it in a humorous and uplifting way,” Skøien reflects.
While the new track is one that is sure to shoot the duo into the depths of stardom, the industry as Skøien, who has been making music since the age of 15, has already caused waves in the alternative R&B and pop scene with every label in Sweden hot on her tail.
