It goes without saying that there has been a gaping hole in our hearts since the end of Game of Thrones – or Monday nights have never been the same. So you can imagine our excitement when HBO announced there would be a variety of spin-offs from the show starting with House of Dragon. Dropping the trailer today, the teaser finally revealed the first real footage from the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel that centers around the history of the Targaryen family. Set two centuries before the events of the original series, the show will take us through how the family first started their conquest over the world and their control over the dragon.

While the trailer itself doesn’t reveal much about the show’s plot, it does showcase its impressive cast including Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans and Matt Smith. In true HBO style, a specific air date hasn’t been set, only teasing that it will be due for release sometime in 2022 on their HBO streaming service.
