If, like us, you are infatuated with the smooth sounds of jazz, fast-rising multi-instrumentalist Ben Marc is the artist for you. Filled with the ultimate blend of soothing instrumentation and grime-infused bars, “Breath Suite B” is Ben’s latest project that pays tribute to the diversified future of London’s jazz scene as well as spotlighting his ingenious musical mind. And, with the impeccable work of Shabaka Hutchings and Rarelyalways also featuring in the profound socio-political track – hacked from Ben’s “Breathe Suite” EP – it cements itself as a deeply important and infectious song.
Now, in the name of further amplifying his message, the multifacet has unveiled the track’s thought-provoking and BLM-inspired visuals. With the political turmoil of the last year laying as a sombre foundation for the project, viewers are invited to join a young woman on a day-long introspective journey as an emotional rollercoaster, filled with pain and joy, ensues.
“We wanted to make something meditative to help people through this traumatic time,” explains Ben when speaking on the new music video. “The video shows a day in the life of a young Black girl. At the start of the film, it shows her struggles, a panic, then a sense of hiding and running away from daily problems. As the film develops, it progresses into this girl finding peace, using contemplation and individual thought processes to do so. The later part of the film, especially in the club, brings together a sense of collective thoughts, struggles, happiness and uprising.”
