With New York Fashion Week upon us and snaps from the VMAs currently taking over social media, you already know that this week’s Looks of the Week is going to be one of epic proportions. From Megan Fox and Bretman Rock dominating the VMAs’ red carpet in jaw-dropping gowns to Lil Nas X adopting Elton John’s aesthetic, head below to enjoy the best looks from the week…
LOOKS OF THE WEEK
Feather ‘fits, sheer Mugler and archived Roberto Cavalli: Lil Nas X, Megan Fox, Bretman Rock turned Instagram into their runway in this week’s fashion round-up.
Megan wore Mugler
The looks at this year’s VMAs did not disappoint. And, while there were many worthy of a mention – a few of which feature below – none left an impact quite like Megan Fox’s. Stepping out with long-term boyfriend, Machine Gun Kelly, the star sported a delicate sheer slip dress, dreamed up by Casey Cadwallader for Mugler. Featuring sparkling detailing, the low-cut piece exposed Megan’s stunning figure and silver thong, making it the sexiest display of the evening. And, Machine Gun Kelly’s glistening red three-piece is deserving of its own nod. Couple ‘fits for the win!
A$AP Rocky kept it cosy for his Klarna advert
A$AP Rocky, whilst also known for his impeccable lyrical flows and for being one half of the world’s hottest couple, is also praised for his iconic sense of style. And, his latest snap proves why. Whilst posing in campaign snaps for his collaboration with Klarna, the rapper was wrapped up in a playful bathrobe adorned with a vibrant camo print. And, thanks to A$AP, we will now be investing in a pair of Muppets slippers!
Bretman Rock paid tribute to Aaliyah in a throwback Roberto Cavalli gown
The next VMA look gracing this week’s round-up comes courtesy of Bretman Rock. Paying tribute to the eternal star that is Aaliyah, Bretman reached into the Roberto Cavalli archives and decided to model a dress made famous by its trip to the 2000 VMAs red carpet with the beloved R&B singer. The striking garment boasted an eye-catching mustard yellow and black zebra print, asymmetric and fur-trimmed hem and subtle cowl neck, aka some of this year’s most celebrated styles. And, what better thing to pair the gorgeous gown with than a pair of thigh-high latex boots?
Tayce came with the colour
Bringing a splash of vibrancy to this week’s round-up is Drag Race star Tayce. In a bid to school his followers on the art of making clashing colours work, the talent donned a thick-ribbed two-pice splattered with a rainbow selection of colours, which he paired with a pair of tangerine perspex sunnier and cobalt blue do-rag.
Is that a ChHIciiKEeeN? No, it’s just Lil Nas X dressed as Elton John
Continuing on with the tributes to icons, Lil Nas X paid his not-so-subtle respects to Elton John’s unparalleled style by recreating one of his most extravagant looks. Fans could enjoy the scenes of Lil Nas X being practically engulfed by rainbow feathers as the star sported a bold jumpsuit which came complete with an ornate headpiece, circular specs and silver platforms worthy of making Lady Gaga gag.
Madison Beer set hearts racing in her lace-up gown
The last of the VMAs’ looks worthy of note comes courtesy of Madison Beer. Giving us serious angel energy, the pop sensation looked snatched in the lace-up gown of our dreams that came complete with a thigh-high slit and low-cut bust, all of which was washed over in a dusty pink hue.
Evan Mock and Rosalía let us know that school was in session
Next up is everyone’s favourite skater boy, Evan Mock, and singing sensation Rosalía. Keeping it preppy in school girl and boy outfits, the pair allowed plaid to have a moment as they both showcased an elevated take on the modern-day suit silhouette. With Evan donning a pair of adorable rolled up shorts and Rosalía showing off a billowing skirt, the pairs subtle coordination was much appreciated. And, the NYFW-ready black shades definitely didn’t go unnoticed.
Jessica Chastain x McQueen stole the show
Rounding off this week’s fashion round-up is Jessica Chastain in an awe-invoking Alexander McQueen outfit. Keeping it casual up top, a sleek white tee sets a subtle tone, but, in the name of dramatics, the fans were treated to the scenes of ornate asymmetric silver embroidery, effortlessly trailing off from the t-shirt. And, with a pair of sleek, elongated cigarette pants layering underneath the t-shirt, the outfit was undeniably chic.
