The announcement of the LVMH Prize winner is a highly anticipated moment in the annual fashion calendar. Not only because the recipient of the award receives a €300,000 prize, but because it is usually an indication of who is set to join the ranks of the most sought after designers the world has to offer. And now, it is time to meet 2021’s winner: Nensi Dojaka.
Joining past winners Wales Bonner, Supriya Lele and Jacquemus, Central Saint Martins graduate Dojaka has been on the fashion radar for a while now, thanks to being scouted out and spotlighted by the fashion incubator, Fashion East. While the designer had already awarded herself the fashion seal of approval through her post-university success, her latest win, which was judged by industry giants such as Rihanna, Virgil Abloh, Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney, has only confirmed her potential. And, as if that wasn’t enough to brand her as one to watch, the designer’s dreamy spaghetti strap-adorned mesh creations have also become instant hits with celebs such as Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski and Emma Corrin.
So, while the young talent’s recent win is a thing to be celebrated, we cannot say that we are overly shocked. Congratulations Nensi, we cannot wait to see what beautifully elegant designs you dream up next!
