It’s been nine months since Drake first announced his sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy in a celebratory IG post, but due to COVID, broken legs and delays, we’ve were left on edge for half the year, anticipating when we would hear any bit of information. And finally, we have been blessed. This past week, the Canadian superstar has spent this past week teasing fans with billboards all around the world, hinting who we can expect on the project, and our assumptions were right. 21 tracks long, the album includes features from the likes of Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Future and Jay Z.

Returning to his Take Care era, the iconic rapper takes us right back to our feels with emotionally driven lyricism, soft productions and bucket loads of toxic masculinity. From his Masego-sampled opener to the soulful “The Remorse”, the artist serves up a love letter to acceptance as he carefully yet candidly dissects an array of complex emotions while waving goodbye to his former self.

Dropping slightly later this morning then normal releases, the artist took to IG stories and revealed the project is a combination of “ toxic masculinity and truth which is inevitably heartbreaking.”
