With summer coming to a close, we’re winding down and enjoying those final sun-filled moments and indie-pop duo Talk Time are providing the sounds with their majestic new EP “Necessary Evil”. Between the slow retro synths on their opening track “Dead Weight” and the emotionally-driven piano keys on “Through the Door”, the duo invites us into their hypnotic world filled with lush textures and introspective lyricism. Pulling on a nostalgic sound, Edson Choi and Mike Nissen create a rich contemporary soundscape for their latest project, intricately weaving the influence of The Police with pop sensibilities.

Dropping the EP alongside a limited edition NFT titled CryptoMusicBox, Talk Time collaborated with five visual artists to give their own approach on a modern-day music box inspired by the songs on the album.

Speaking in on the NFT series, Mike Nissen said, “Growing up, I remember playing with a music box at my Grandmother’s house. That tune is forever burned into my brain. The music box lives on at my mother’s house, and now when I hear it, it brings up fond memories from the past. I’m excited to bring that more personalized experience back into how we enjoy and interact with music.”
