When it comes to penning a hit single, heartbreak can be seen as the ultimate inspiration. And, singer-songwriter Slopes is here to prove that this is the case with his latest cut, “Tears”. Drenched in an introspective narrative courtesy of Dag Holtan-Hartwig, aka Slopes, the track hopes to transport the listener back into the depths of their own emotional turmoil with the help of the indie-pop vocalist’s mesmerising tone, which is layered with the raw pain of his past experiences. And, with crashing acoustic instrumentation and haunting backing vocals also featuring, the project quickly becomes a heartbreak anthem worthy of the name.

“Sometimes, if I’ve let someone down, I can feel as if those tears shouldn’t be wasted on me – kind of like, save them for someone better! ‘Tears’ is about avoiding or escaping relationships in fear of letting people down,” explains the artist when speaking on the premise of his latest release.

While the song itself is laced with tourment, its accompanying music video hopes to make the project all the more heart-wrenching. A tale that depicts Slopes abandoning his fiance at the alter which then leads to torturous emotional outpourings from both parties, expect to fall into a state of second-hand heartbreak upon the first watch. And, with the artist stating that his work is “melancholy, where nostalgia meets a belief in the future,” you can expect more tear-inducing tunes from Slopes very soon.
